APPLETON – Delia F. Starrett, 74, a resident of Gurney Town Road, died Monday, June 30, 2008, with her family at her side, at Knox Center for Long-term Care, Rockland, after a long illness. Mrs. Starrett was born Sept. 16, 1933, in Appleton, the same home she resided in at the time of her death, a daughter of Robie B. and Frances Kinney Robbins. Delia had attended Appleton schools. After raising her family, she went back to school and in 1972, received her GED from the Camden school system. A homemaker, she stayed home to raise her family and tend the family farm. She enjoyed growing her vegetable garden, taking care of the neighborhood kids, who called her Nannie, and attending Order of the Eastern Star, Union. She and her husband would have celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary, Nov. 21, 1952. Survivors include her husband, Russell Starrett of Appleton; children, Curtis Starrett and his wife, Mary, of Appleton, Chrystal Starrett of Montville, Craig Starrett his wife, Jill, of Belfast, Cary Starrett of Westbrook, Randall Starrett of Wagner, S.C., Vaughn Starrett of Appleton, Lorraine Hilt of Appleton and Ricky Starrett and his wife, Darlene, of Appleton; three brothers, Aldeverd Robbins of Burkettville, Robie Robbins of Union and Neil Robbins of Burkettville; 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. A private interment will take place at Pine Grove Cemetery, Appleton.
