BRADLEY – Delmont G. McAllister, 91, passed away peacefully Saturday, June 16, 2007, at a Bangor nursing facility. He was born Sept. 7, 1915, in Bradley, the son of Harland F. and Gladys (Spencer) McAllister. He retired from Georgia-Pacific mill, Old Town. He was retired master sergeant with the U.S. Air Force and Maine Air National Guard Fire Department. He served in the Army in Italy and France during World War II. He was a life-member of the VFW Post No. 3381, Old Town. He spent 50 years on the Bradley Fire Department, as well as an instructor for the Department of Maine Fire Services. He is survived by his son, Walter H. McAllister of Bradley; two grandchildren, Kelley and her husband, John, Shawn and his wife, Teri; three great-grandchildren, Sarah, John Paul and Kyle. He is also survived by many special friends, Doreen and her family, Lana and her children and Bill and Allison and their children. He was predeceased by his wife, Rachel (Spencer) McAllister. A memorial service will be conducted 2 p.m. Saturday July 28, at Clifton United Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Bangor Maine Veterans’ Home, 44 Hogan Road, Bangor, ME 04401. A private graveside service will be held at a later date. Arrangements in the care of Birmingham Funeral Home, 438 Main St., Old Town.
