HAMPDEN – Denise Marie Flagg, 48, died peacefully at home Feb. 3, 2006, after a long struggle with breast cancer. Denise was born April 2, 1957, at the Subic Bay Naval Air Station in the Philippine Islands, the third of four children to Melvin and Marilynn (Alvin) Wright. Denise graduated in 1975, from Highlands High School in North Highlands, Calif., where she was a proud member of the band. The Highlands band community became a circle of lifelong friends. She was especially fond of William Hill, the band director. She worked most of her career in the food service industry, where she was known for her skills in team building and creating an atmosphere of team spirit. She had a special gift for making all around her feel special and welcome and because of that, she always had a home full of family and friends. Denise also had a special fondness for the nurses and staff who looked after her health at Cancer Care of Maine. Denise is survived by her beloved husband, Daniel; two stepchildren, Sarah and Michael of Hampden; her mother, Marilynn Wright of North Highlands, Calif.; her brother and sister-in-law, Dennis and Glynn Wright; a brother, Daniel Wright; a sister and brother-in-law, Mitch and Debby Jack; seven nieces, Jennifer, Michelle, Sandra, Samantha, Taryn, Heather and Brittany; a very special aunt, Joyce Mueller; and cousins, Lynn, Dean, Leslie and Lisa. She will be especially missed by her very special service dog and constant companion, Binky. She was predeceased by her father, Melvin Wright. Services of remembrance with a reception to follow will be held 6:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 6, at the Advent Christian Church, 2141 Broadway, Bangor, Pastor Clayton Blackstone, officiating.
