BANGOR and GREENVILLE – Dennis Donald “Denny” Mason, beloved hus-band, brother and friend, passed away Sept. 28, 2005, with his wife at his side, after a long and courageous battle with diabetes. He will be remembered and greatly missed by all of his family and many friends. Dennis was born Aug. 7, 1946, in Greenville, son of the late Donald and Barbara (Blanchard) Mason. He was a graduate of Greenville High School and the University of Maine at Machias. Dennis served in the U.S. Army with the 946th Transportation Company, honorably discharged in 1973. Mr. Mason taught school and coached for many years in the Greenville and Guilford area until he retired due to illness. During his career he touched the lives of many students and student-athletes. He had a lifelong love of sports and was an active advocate of youth programs throughout his career. He will forever be remembered as a kind and generous man who always put the welfare of others before his own. His positive way and caring spirit sustained him and those closest to him throughout his illness. Dennis is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Sharon Humphrey-Mason of Bangor; his brother, Carl B. Mason of Greenville; his sister, Sharon M. Smith of Rye, N.H.; his nephew, Carson T. Smith of Portsmouth, N.H.; his niece, Eliza M. Smith of Durham, N.H.; his sister-in-laws and their families, Nancy, Tom, Hillary and Amber Griffin of Presque Isle, Janet, John and Julie Stephenson of Washburn; several aunts and uncles, many cousins and friends. Friends may call 6:30-8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 30, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor. Graveside services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 1, at the Greenville Cemetery with the Rev.
