WARE, Mass. – Diane F. Murray, 69, departed this earth peacefully, surrounded by her loving family after a valiant battle with cancer on Jan. 31, 2005. Diane was born in Ware, Mass., Feb. 20, 1935. She was a graduate of Ware High School and Our Lady of Elms College, with a BA in education and languages. She married Dick on Aug. 3, 1957, with her primary residence in Ware. She taught for more than 20 years in the Ware School System, serving as a 4th grade teacher, Chapter One instructor and director and as a 1st grade teacher, retiring in 1997. She remained active in the elementary schools by participating in their annual community reading day and supporting fundraising events as well as independent tutoring to students in need. She was an ardent and active communicant of All Saints Church, serving as both a lector and Eucharistic minister for many years. Among her hobbies, Diane loved to golf, and was a member of the West Brookfield Duplicate Bridge Club. She treasured reading, gardening, sewing and painting. She enjoyed time on Cape Cod in Wellfleet at the family’s summer residence. She will be remembered for her kind, caring and giving spirit, her dedication to her family, friends, community and her boundless devotion and enthusiasm to her grandchildren. She was predeceased by her father, Stanley Bartoszek. She is survived by her mother, Olivine (Cournoyer) Bartoszek. She leaves her beloved husband, Richard E. Murray and her cherished children, Mary-Lynne Murray-Ryder and her husband, Patrick, of Hermon, Jennifer Doherty and her husband, Brian of Amston, Conn., Sean and wife, Mary Jo Bazarian-Murray of Rutland, Mass., Diane is also survived by her treasured grandchildren, Jake, Karni and Kyle Murray and MollyLynn Doherty. She will be missed by her countless relatives, close friends and her precious feline companion, Samantha. Friends may call at Charbonneau Funeral Home, 30 Pleasant St., Ware, Mass., from 4-8 p.m. Friday. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Feb. 5, 2004, from the Charbonneau Funeral Home, with a Mass at 10 a.m. in All Saints Church, North Street. Burial will be in New St. William Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to All Saints Church, 17 North St., Ware, MA 01082; or to Diane Murray Book Fund for Ware Elementary School, care of Country Bank, 75 Main St., Ware, MA 01082.
