HERMON – Dolores C. DeCoste, 76, wife of the late Arthur J. DeCoste, died June 1, 2008, at a Bangor hospital, after a brief illness. She was born June 28, 1932, in Blanchard, the daughter of Elam and Kustaava Soumi. Dolores grew up in Blanchard, moved to Boston and later moved to East Bridgewater, Mass., where she raised her family. Dolores loved spending time with her family, including times with Richard and Karen in New Hampshire, attending all her grandchildren’s activities and their family gatherings. She also enjoyed the outdoors, going to camp and was proud of her Finnish heritage. Surviving are two children, James O. DeCoste and his wife, Suzanne, of Hermon and Richard A. DeCoste and his wife, Karen, of Londonderry, N.H.; three grandchildren, Kate, Spencer and Elizabeth DeCoste, all of Hermon; two sisters, Irene Scalifani of Tewksbury, Mass., and Miriam Angeleri and her husband, Paul, of Groveland, Mass.; a special, close cousin, Helen Johnson; extended family, Ethel and Don Higgns; several niece and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by two brothers, Uuno and William; and three sisters, Sylvia, Leila and Saima. Dolores’ family thanks the nursing staff of Eastern Maine Medical Center for the excellent care, especially Devon of Corinth and Michael, who provided the strawberry shakes. A graveside memorial service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, June 21, at Lake Road Cemetery, Monson with Pastor David Ray, presiding.
