HAMPDEN and CHESUNCOOK – Don Q. McBurnie, 88, husband of the late Lena M. McBurnie, pass-ed away Dec. 6, 2007, at a Brewer health care facility. He was born Jan. 12, 1919, in Mars Hill, the son of Arthur and Fannie (Griffin) McBurnie. Don served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was an aircraft mechanic. He was always a hard worker and worked as a woodcutter for Great Northern Paper Co. Don also worked as an automotive mechanic and for himself cutting wood. He enjoyed his vegetable and flower gardens, riding his four-wheeler, and was an avid bird watcher. He is survived by his stepchildren, Charlene Sawyer and husband, Wayne, of Hampden, Lorraine Porter and husband, Rodney, of Newburgh, Brenda Pooler of Bangor, and Charles Smith and wife, Cindy, of Bangor; grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Lena (Thibeault) McBurnie, in 2002; by a stepson and stepdaughter-in-law, Richard and Jean Smith; and by two brothers, Burt and Austin Dale McBurnie.
