MACHIASPORT – Douglas E. Strout, 20, son of Emery D. and Sharon Strout, passed away Dec. 4, 2007, at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Boston, after a brief and courageous battle with cancer. Doug graduated from Washington Academy in 2005 and was, at the time of his death, in his third year at the University of Maine – Machias, where he also worked at the switchboard. Douglas enjoyed playing a variety of video games, collecting business cards, and spending time at the University of Maine – Machias with his friends. Doug was close to his family and enjoyed his time with them. Douglas is survived by his parents, Emery D. and Sharon (Dowling) Strout of Machiasport; his brother, Clifford and his wife, Cathi Strout, of Calais; his grandmother, Muriel Dowling of Machias; Aunt Vivian and Uncle Jimmy Hall of Machias, Aunt Pamela and Uncle Danny of Beals, Uncle Emery I. and Aunt Barbara Strout of Glenburn; twin nieces, Kenadie and Chloe Strout; two special cousins, Lyra Hall and her fianc?, David, of Stillwater, and James Hall and his wife, Tami, of Lisbon Falls, two great-aunts, several cousins and many special friends. Friends may call 3-6 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9, at Bragdon-Kelley-Campbell Funeral Home, 6 Cooper St., Machias. A funeral service will be celebrated 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 10, at Machias Valley Baptist Church, Broadway, Machias. Interment will be at Jacksonville Cemetery, East Machias.
