BUCKSPORT – Donald A. Conners, 75, died Nov. 5, 2003, at a Bangor hospital. He was born Sept. 23, 1928, in Surry, the son of Alonzo W. and Edith L. (Conary) Conners. He worked for 31 years for Champion Paper Co., Bucksport, was an avid outdoorsman, hunter, fisherman and Maine Guide for many years, loved to spend time at his camp, and when he was 17, he fought the Bar Harbor fire. He was a member of the Pownal Masonic Lodge No. 119 AF&AM, Stockton Springs. Donald is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Celia (Candage) Conners, of Bucksport; two sons, Kevin Conners and wife, Cindy, of Eddington, and Charles Conners and wife, Elizabeth, of East Corinth; two sisters, Betty Bowden of Bucksport, and Polly O’Donnell and husband, Austin, of Bucksport; one brother, James Anderson and wife, Jane, of Surry; four sisters-in-law, Helen Anderson of Bass Harbor, Geneva Pert of Deer Isle, Geraldine Carter and husband, Linwood, of Blue Hill, and Joyce Tyler and husband, Harry, of Blue Hill; eight grandchildren, Brett, Adam, Jesse, Craig, Tony, Trudy, Richard, and Jennifer; several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Donald was predeceased by his parents, Alonzo and Edith Conners; one brother, Harold Anderson Jr.; one brother in-law, Joseph Bowden. Donald’s family would like to acknowledge their appreciation for Donald’s son Kevin for always being there and being so helpful to both of his parents through the years. A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 8, 2003, at the Mitchell-Tweedie Funeral Home, 28 Elm St. Bucksport, with Rev. Tracy Reeves officiating. Visitation will be 12 p.m. until time of service. Interment will be in Riverview Cemetery, Bucksport. A gathering of conversation and refreshment will follow the interment at the Parish Hall of the Orland United Methodist Church, Orland.
