LINCOLN – Donald B. Spinney, 84, husband of Lola (Lee) Spinney, passed away Feb. 1, 2008, at a Lincoln hospital. He was born Aug. 13, 1923, in Danforth, the son of James and Georgia (Brackett) Spinney. Donald was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving as a medic while overseas, and was a life member of the VFW. For many years, he was a saw operator for Forster Manufacturing Co., Inc., Mattawamkeag. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and gardening, playing cards and was an avid snowmobiler. In addition to his wife of 61 years, Lola, he is survived by two daughters, Doreen Bennett of Dixmont and Crystal and her husband, Stephen, of South Harwich, Mass.; four grandchildren, seven great-grand-children, five great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Annie Atkinson of Silver Ridge and Paulette Rabideau of Danforth; many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by four sisters, Pheobe Lee, Syrilla Spinney, Myra Cummings and Esther Spinney. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday at Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln, with the Rev. Gerald Craig officiating.
