DONALD CHARLES FRENCH SR. BANGOR – Donald Charles French Sr., 84, passed away Friday, March 7, 2008, at a local nursing home. He was born May 9, 1923, in Bucksport, the son of the late Maurice F. French and Sarah (Stubbs) Snow. Don was a veteran of World War II, having served his country for five years with the U.S. Army, Battery B, 152nd Field Artillery Battalion. After leaving the military, he worked in the Bangor area as a front-end alignment specialist, and with more than 40 years experience, he was know statewide as one of the best. He had a great love of hunting and fishing, and tended to three vegetable gardens every year, which he did until he was 81 years old. He also enjoyed chopping wood in his spare time and spent many hours playing cards, particularly solitaire. Don is survived by his wife of 60 years, Glenice (Fish) French of Bangor; five children, Donna Stevenson of Bangor, Donald Jr. and his wife, Dee-Dee French, of Bangor, Darlene French and her partner, Rod-erick Rockwell, of Eddington, Deanna French and her partner, Rodney Bean, of Bangor and Darrell French and his partner, Lydia Coombs, of Dedham; six grandchildren, Sewell Stevenson and his wife, Melissa, Shaun Stevenson, Donald French III and his wife, Shannon, Mikki Rooney, Derek Drew and Darrell French II; two great-grandchildren, Kaylie French and Kristin Stevenson; and one sister, Polly Lodge and her husband, Jack, of Bangor. He was predeceased by his parents; three brothers, Clarence Stubbs, Galen and Robert Snow; and one sister, Winifred Wescott. At his request, there will be no public calling hours. <>
