ELLSWORTH – Donald E. Parker, 75, died Tuesday, March 2, 2004, at his home in Ellsworth. He was born Nov. 22, 1928, in Livermore Falls, the son of Elmer C. and Bessie E. (Brown) Parker. Donald was a veteran of the Korean War. He received a bachelor’s of science and education degree at the Farmington State Teacher’s College, and was awarded the degree master’s of education from the University of Maine. Donald’s career was spent in education, serving schools in Rockland, Millinocket, and Livermore Falls, as a teacher and administrator. He was a member of the United Baptist Church in Ellsworth, where he served as deacon. Donald was also a member of the Lygonia Lodge No. 40 A.F. & A.M. in Ellsworth. He served as Past Patron, Grand Representative to Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island of Irene Chapter No. 97, O.E.S., in Ellsworth. Donald had a great love of genealogy, camp and the outdoors. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Ruth E. (Herrick) Parker of Ellsworth; two daughters, Linda Doiron of Wilton, and Rebecca Hoffman and her husband, John Paul Hoffman IV, of Newport; two brothers, Carroll Parker and his wife, Ella, of Shrewsbury, Mass., Richard Parker and his wife, Claire, of North Livermore; a sister, Edith Savage of Greene; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Donald was predeceased by a son, David Andrew Parker; and two brothers, Cecil and Wesley Parker. Friends are invited to visit with the family 6-8 p.m. Friday at the Bragdon-Kelley-Campbell Funeral Home, 215 Main St., Ellsworth, where the officers and members of Lygonia Lodge No. 40 will conduct Masonic funeral rites at 7:30 p.m. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday at the United Baptist Church, corner of Hancock and Pine Streets, Ellsworth, with the Rev. Dr. Branan Becknell, pastor, and the officers and members of Irene Chapter No. 97, O.E.S. officiating. Interment will be at Woodbine Cemetery, Ellsworth.
