BELFAST – Donald Edward Batson, 82, formerly of Bradenton, Fla., died Oct. 12, 2006, in Belfast. He was born June 9, 1924, in Lynn, Mass., the son of Wallace E. and Eleanor F. Batson. He attended public schools in Lynn, Mass., and graduated from Lynn English High School. He served in the U.S. Army Signal Corp during World War II and worked for New England Tel & Tel for 40 years, retiring in 1982. He was a member of Charles C. Dame Lodge AF & AM, Georgetown, Mass., and was also a member of the Congregational United Church of Christ, Bradenton, Fla. Donald was predeceased by his parents and his wife, Mary E. Batson. He is survived by four children, Ruth E. Weston, Janet E. Lyons, Priscilla A. Wentworth and David P. Batson; seven grandchildren and three nieces. Friends and family are invited to call 2-3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 14, at Crabiel-Riposta Funeral Home, 182 Waldo Ave., Belfast, where a funeral service will be held 3 p.m. Burial will be held 2 p.m. Oct. 16, at Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody, Mass.
