ORONO – Donald Eugene Marshall, fondly known as “The Professor,” quietly passed away Aug. 4, 2006, at a Bangor healthcare facility from a brief illness. He was born May 9, 1943, in Washington, D.C., the seventh and last child of Jesse James (Mizany) Marshall of Budapest, Hungary and Mary Bernadine Hockey of Hartford, Conn., who predeceased him.He is also predeceased by four brothers, William Edward, James Leonard, Edward Francis and Jesse Eugene; and one sister, Dorothy Mae Seabolt. He is survived by one brother, John Thomas of Ocean Springs, Miss.; and four sisters-in-law, Jeannette, Cecilia, Francis and Stephanie. Uncle Donnie had 21 nieces and nephews, 43 great-nieces and great-nephews and four great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews. He is also survived by his “adopted” family of Larry, Katie, Brandon and Socks Pearson of Hampden. Don was an electrical engineer who traveled extensively throughout Thailand and Vietnam. He was also a short order cook and was last working as a kitchen aide at the Bangor House Meals for Me. He loved his garden, feeding the birds, cooking and his newest hobby of studying gemstones.
