NORTH EASTHAM, Mass. – Donald H. McKenney, 76, passed away peacefully March 20, 2006, at his daughter’s home in North Eastham, on Cape Cod, after a long battle with lung cancer. Donald was born March 7, 1930, in Clinton. Donald joined the U.S. Air Force and served during the Korean War. After his discharge, he was employed by New England Telephone, retiring in 1990, as central office manager after 38 years. He was a long-standing member of the American Legion, the Anah Shriners of Bangor, Sebasticook Lodge AF & AM, Clinton, as well as the Valley of Bangor Scottish Rite. After retiring, he spent winters in Port St. Lucie and Viera, Fla., summers in Burnham at the Lake View Golf Course and the last seven months at his daughter’s home in North Eastham, Mass. He enjoyed his grandchildren, family and friends, golfing, the Boston Red Sox, Boston Celtics and politics. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Sally (Steeves); his daughters, Lynn Rossetti and husband, Joseph, of North Eastham, Mass., Robin Barber and husband, Robert, of Tampa, Fla.; his sons, Omar and wife, Maryann, of West Valley, N.Y., Timothy and Deborah of Scottsdale, Ariz., and David and wife, Maryann, of South Hampton, N.H.; nine grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents, two sisters and two brothers. A memorial service will be held this summer at the Veteran’s Cemetery, Augusta. Memorial may be made to your local Hospice Chapter.
