UNITY – Donald Marriner Chase passed away Thursday, Sept. 6, 2007, in Lewiston. He was born Nov. 23, 1926, in Gar-diner, son of the late Wallace and Lena (Marriner) Chase. In 1946 Donald married the former Elizabeth Webber and together raised two daughters. He and his wife founded Chase’s Home Furnishings, Unity, in 1952. Donald was a very hard worker who taught himself how to repair televisions after taking a correspondence course. During his retirement, he enjoyed coin collecting and again owned his own business. Donald was a member of Star of the West Masonic Lodge No. 85, Unity, where he was past master and past district deputy. He was a member of the Shriners as well. His greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Donald also enjoyed woodworking and was an avid golfer. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Elizabeth, who passed away in 1988. He will be sadly missed by his two daughters, Diane Roberts and husband, Randy, of Unity and Donna Wade and husband, Bill, of Unity; his brothers, Robert Chase and wife, Mary, of Hampden and David Chase and wife, Joanne, of Unity; his sisters, Dorothy Casillo and husband, Robert, of Georgia and Jane Shoppe of Hampden; his grandchildren, Scott, Christopher, Jenny, Josh, Jesse and Jaime; and his great-grand-children, Chase Thomas, Emma, Issabella, Kasey, Chase James, Connor, Zoe, Bella, Elizabeth and Elliot. A celebration of Donald’s life will be held 1 p.m. Wed-nesday, Sept. 12, at Unity Centre for the Performing Arts, 42 Depot St., Unity. Private burial will be at Pond Cemetery, Unity. In lieu of flowers, donations in Donald’s memory may be made to Volunteer Regional Food Pantry, P.O. Box 175, Unity, ME 04988.
