HOLDEN – Donald R. Golding, 88, died Tuesday, July 1, 2008, at a Bangor nursing facility. He was born Oct. 5, 1919, in Danforth, the son of George W. and Olive F. (Estabrook) Golding. Donald owned and operated a welding shop in Danforth. He also was a guide at Rideouts Sporting Camps at East Grand Lake. Donald was a 50-year member of United Association of Plumbers and Pipe Fitters No. 716, the Ralph J. Pollard Masonic Lodge, Anah Shrine, Eddington Salmon Club and Local Amateur Radio Club. He enjoyed talking on his Ham Radio and tying his own fly fishing flies. He was also an avid hunter and fisherman. He is survived by two daughters, Barbara Goetsch and her husband, Neale, of Florida, and Bonnie Boyer and her husband, Merle, of Hermon; five grandchildren, Laura Deffayet and her husband, Rodolphe, of France, Jeremy Goetsch and his wife, Mary, of South Carolina, Claire Kimak and her husband, Bill, of Ohio, Cyndi Boyer of Hermon, and Kara McCann and her husband, Don, of Bangor; eight great-grandchildren; and a brother, Philip. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Florence H. (Morrison) Golding; two brothers and one sister. A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, July 6, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, with the Rev. Garnett Chute, pastor of Hermon Baptist Church, officiating. Friends may call noon until time of service Sunday. Interment will be held immediately after the service at Corinthian Cemetery, Corinth.
