OLD TOWN – Donovan “Vince” C. Vinson, 78, died peacefully May 31, 2005, at a Bangor hospital. He was born July 25, 1926, in Troy, the son of Percy Charles and Mabel Ola (Wheaton) Vinson. Vince served his country during World War II in the U.S. Army stationed in Italy with the combat engineers. He hand sewed shoes for several years and then worked in the pulpwood and logging industry for many years mostly driving tractor trailer trucks. He was a 32nd degree mason of the Star of the East Lodge No. 60, AF & AM in Old Town, a member of the American Legion and VFW in Old Town, and a member of the Anah Shrine. Vince enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and his greatest love was his family. He will be dearly missed by his wife; children; sisters; grandchildren; great-grand-children; and many friends. He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Evelyn (King) Vinson; three sons, Bruce Vinson and wife, Judy, Dorian Vinson and wife, Kathryn, Donald Vinson and wife, Julie, all of Old Town; two daughters, Mary Vandi and husband, Dennis, of Tyngsboro, Mass., Elizabeth Wright and husband, Francis, of Hudson; three sisters, Alma Dunton of Rockland, Evan-geline Hanson of Portland, Glenna Brasslett of Hudson; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. A Service of Remembrance will be held 11 a.m. Friday, June 3, 2005, at Brookings-Smith, Old Town Chapel, 205 Main St., Old Town, with the Rev. Normand P. Richard, pastor of Holy Family Parish, officiating. Interment will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Old Town, at a later date.
