MACHIAS – Dora Jamieson Mayhew died, July 22, 2006, at Marshall Health Care, Machias after a brief illness. She was born Oct. 18, 1911, in Whiting. Dora married Irving Clyde Mayhew of East Machias. She also worked with her husband in his dentistry practice in the Gardiner area. Dora graduated from Washington Academy and attended the University of Maine at Orono. She was an avid flower gardener, loved reading and traveling. She was also a judge at many flower shows. She will be missed very much by her friends and family, who have enjoyed many years of her company. She is survived by two sons, Carl Mayhew and Philip Mayhew; and a granddaughter, Abby Waddleton and her husband, Jason, and their son, Oliver. Dora was predeceased by her youngest son, James. Abby’s mother, Mona Stromberg has been especially close and loving over many years. Burial will take place at the East Machias Congregational Cemetery at a time to be decided later by the family.
