TORRANCE, Calif., and DOVER-FOXCROFT – Doriene was ushered into heaven by God, whom she so graciously served, Aug. 3, 2007. Doriene was born Sept. 11, 1924, in Chester, to Preston Fisher Tash and Ida Mae (Wyman) Tash. She grew up on the family farm and graduated with honors from Mattanawcook Academy, Lincoln. She worked in Connecticut during World War II and returned to Maine after the war. She resided with her sister, and worked at Penobscot Shoe Co., where she met her future husband. Doriene married the love of her life, Keith M. Decker, in 1946, in Dover-Foxcroft and they moved to California in 1953. She resided in Torrance, Calif., from 1954 until she passed away, surrounded by her loving family. Doriene was a loving wife to Keith and devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Their lives have been forever changed by the love from Doriene. She instilled a great tradition of caring for family and others, being forever faithful, through sickness and health, with tenderness, kindness and strength. Doriene was a homemaker for 50 years, and worked as a sales associate at Sears, Roebuck, and Co., for 10 years. She received her Associate in Arts degree from El Camino College in technical illustration. She was active in the South Bay Camera Club, holding positions on several boards, and competed worldwide, receiving numerous awards for her photography. Doriene will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Her passing brings deep sorrow to her husband of 61 years, Keith M.; stepson, Victor Hewett; son, Keith A.; daughters, Sandra Manship, Diane Garretty and husband, Patrick, and Stephanie Code and husband, Ron; grandchildren, great-grandchildren; brother, Earl Tash of Millinocket; sister, Cora Carter of Port Charlotte, Fla.; friend, Florine Crocker of Old Town; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Graveside committal services for Doriene will be conducted 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 17, at Dover Cemetery. After the service friends and family are invited to share stories and fellowship at Sebec Four Corners Event Center, 676 Milo Road, Sebec.
