ORLANDO, Fla. – Doris Carlson Belyea, 77, died peacefully Aug. 10, 2005, after a long illness. Born in Caribou, she was the daughter of the late Albin and Ethel Carlson of Westmanland, Maine. She graduated from high school in Caribou in 1945, and from North Park Junior College in Chicago, Ill., with an Associate degree in arts in 1947. She was a teacher of primary school children in Maine until her marriage to Frederick in 1950. She put her professional career aside to become a full-time mother and caregiver for her children. During this period she was an active church member serving in ministries for children in various churches in central New York. In 1972 she resumed her career, serving for several years as a secondary school library aide and later as a primary school health aide in Auburn, N.Y. She retired from the school system in 1984 and moved with her husband to Orlando in 1986. She is survived by her husband, Frederick W. Belyea of Orlando, Fla.; children, David F. of West Palm Beach, Fla., Susan C. of Richmond, Va., Paul R. of Tampa, Fla., Kathy K. of Orlando, Fla. and John H. of Jensen Beach, Fla.; a brother Howard Carlson of Holden, Mass.; two nieces and a nephew; grandchildren; great-grandchildren, as well as many friends. Private funeral services will be held at Family Funeral Care, John Young Parkway, followed by interment at Woodlawn Cemetery in Gotha, Fla. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be given to Audubon Park Covenant Church, 3219 Chelsea St., Orland, or to the Alzheimer Resource Center, 1400 North Semeron Blvd., Orlando, Fla. 32087.
