PRESQUE ISLE- Doris C. Johnson, 75, died peacefully Nov. 9, 2004, surrounded by her family. She was born Nov. 11, 1928, in Arthurette, New Brunswick, Canada, to Turney and Maude Sprague. There she attended local schools. She went on to her first job at Lewis Pharmacy in Perth. There that she was to meet the love of her life, Albert Johnson, her husband of 34 years. Once married she settled in Presque Isle. She went on to have five children that brought her much joy and pride. She became a U.S. citizen in 1957. Doris was first and foremost a wife, mother and homemaker. Always a great baker, she was famous for her award winning doughnuts. She was active in the Helping Hand Club. She took up golf once her children were older and became quite accomplished. Unfortunately severe allergies sidelined her from the sport. She was past president of the Presque Isle Country Club women’s division. She is survived by her daughters, Sandra Carter and her husband, Bruce, Alexis Madore and her husband, Barry, all of Presque Isle, Deborah Fogg and her husband, Sanford, of Yarmouth; sons, Gerald Johnson of Minot and Brad Johnson of Presque Isle; grandchildren, Veronica Collins, Matthew Madore, Kyle and Brooks Johnson, Deidre and Meryl Fogg and Matthew Cronin. She was predeceased by her husband, Albert; sisters, Georgia Dewley and Shirley Sprague; special mother-in-law, Hildred Johnson and granddaughter, Whitney Fogg. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday at Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, 30 Church St., Presque Isle, with the Rev. Kenneth Phelps officiating.
