PRESQUE ISLE – Doris E. Dyer, 84, wife of the late James E. Dyer Sr. died March 8, 2005, at a Mars Hill healthcare facility. She was born Jan. 4, 1921, in Dover-Foxcroft, the daughter of Ray and Kate (Drinkwater) Berce. Doris worked as a clerk at Marston’s card shop for many years. She was a member of the Grant Memorial United Methodist Church. She is survived by two sons, James E. Dyer, Jr. and his wife, Andrea, of Presque Isle, Jeffery Dyer and his companion, Gail Crowley, of Bangor; three daughters, Judith Groves of Winthrop, Janice Jordan and her husband, William, of Westfield, Jennifer Dyer and her companion, Tom Lavin, of Stuart, Fla.; six grandchildren, Michele Dyer, Kristen Pemelton, Philip Vance, Ryan and Randall Gartley, and Stephen Groves. There will be no calling hours. A graveside service will be held in the spring at Fairmount Cemetery. Those who wish may donate in her memory to the James E. Dyer Sr. Scholarship Fund, Presque Isle High School, care of Joan Gagne, 16 Griffin St., Presque Isle, ME 04769 or to the Opportunity Training Center, 25 Lombard St., Presque Isle.
