BREWER – Doris G. Woodman, 74, died Aug. 14, 2008, at her home. She was born Sept. 7, 1933, in Binghamton, N.Y., the daughter of Clarence and Elsie (Dietz) Canfield. After graduating from high school, Doris began a long career as a secretary working for law firms in New York, Arizona and Bangor. She served on the staff of Bill Cohen’s first congressional campaign, as a public health administrator for the city of Bangor and as a senior companion for Bangor Area Visiting Nurses. Surviving are three children, Alice Jean Countryman-Lane and her husband, Kenneth, of Newburgh, Jon Countryman and his wife, Lori, of Wisconsin and George Woodman III and his wife, Michelle, of Florida; nine grandchildren, Laura Joly and her husband, Steven, Jon Eldridge and his wife, Cortney, all of New Hampshire, Eric and Sean Woodman, Matthew and Daniel Evans, all of Wisconsin, Alan Woodman of Maine, Lindsay and Madison Woodman, both of Florida; 10 great-grandchildren; one brother, Harold of Florida; her best friend and sister, Elizabeth Muckey of Binghamton, N.Y.; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, George A. Woodman; and her brothers, Clarence Jr., Francis and Nelson Canfield. Doris and her family appreciate the many kindnesses extended by her dear friends, Wendall, Helen, Val and Linda. A private burial for Doris will be held in Florida at a later date.
