BANGOR – Rodney Clifton Strout, 58, passed away June 3, 2008, in Bangor. He was born Jan. 22, 1950, in Bangor, the son of Calvin Donald and Elizabeth Jean (Turner) Strout. Rodney was educated in the Brewer school system. He served his country in the U.S. Army from April 11, 1969, to Feb. 11, 1972, during the Vietnam War, where he received a Purple Heart. He is survived by a brother, Richard of Bangor; three sisters, Carolee Parent of Bucksport, Kimberly Bemis of Milford and Lori of Georgia; and his “family” of the Bangor Efficiency Apartments, where he made his home for the past 16 years. A service of remembrance will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 22, at Pine Grove Crematorium Remembrance Center, 1347 Hammond St., Bangor. Friends are invited to gather 10 a.m. until the start of the service. Interment will be at a later date at the Maine Memorial Veterans’ Cemetery, Mount Vernon Road, Augusta.
