BEFLAST – Doris Ida Nickless, 91, of Belfast, died Dec. 17, 2005, at a local nursing home. She was born Dec. 3, 1914, the daughter of Guy and Sadie (McLeod) Stevens. Doris was a devoted and wonderful mother and grandmother who solely raised her three daughters after the passing of her husband in 1956. She was a hard worker who loved to shop, play beano and was an avid Boston Red Sox Fan. Doris was predeceased by her husband, Fred; her parents, sister, Marjorie Smith; brothers, Frank, Ralph, Raymond and Hillard Stevens. She is survived by three daughters and their spouses, Elaine and Joseph Saucier of Belfast, Rebecca and Roy Dakin of Kansas City, Mo., Sharon and Lester Turner of Montville; six grandchildren, Darlene Fuller, Darrell Smith, Russell Dakin, Corey Dakin, Jamie Turner and Kimberly Turner; 11 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson, one sister, Mildred Drake of Augusta; as well as several nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend their thanks and gratitude to the staff of Tallpines Nursing Home for their wonderful care of their mother. A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 21, at Crabiel-Riposta Funeral Home, 182 Waldo Ave., Belfast.
