BURNHAM – Doris J. Kuhn, 89, passed away Wednesday, July 7, 2004 at the Sebasticook Healthcare Facility, Pittsfield. She was born Nov. 19, 1914, in New Milford, Conn., the daughter of Rupert and Mabel (Thomas) Day. She attended school in Danbury, Conn., and graduated from Danbury State Normal School in 1935, where she studied to be a teacher. In 1936, she married Clayton Kuhn and they had one son, Bill, who lives at Ebeemee Lake, Maine. Doris taught school for 30 years in New Jersey, but mostly in several towns in Maine retiring in 1973. She absolutely loved nature, camping and fishing. She was a very good fly fisherman and could handle a canoe with skill. She was predeceased by her husband, Clayton, in 1975. At Doris’ request there will be no visiting hours. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 13, at the Village Cemetery, Pittsfield. Donations may be made in Doris’ memory to the Burnham Baptist Church, where she was a member. Arrangements are under the direction of Donald H. Shorey Funeral Chapel, 35 Hartland Ave., Pittsfield.
