HERMON – Doris Rowena Phillips, 93, wife of the late George B. Phillips, passed away June 26, 2008, surrounded by her family, at her home after a brief illness. She was born Jan. 31, 1915, in Glenburn, the daughter of Fred and Rowena (Sawyer) Thayer. Doris worked for many years papering, painting and cleaning for her “customers.” She spent most of her life caring for others. She is survived by one daughter, Sandra Harris of Hermon; 14 grandchildren, which includes her special boy, Mark; 20 great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband; two sons, Robert and Gerald Phillips; two daughters, Marilyn Mullen and Natalie Rude; four brothers and five sisters. A graveside service honoring Doris’ life will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, June 29, at Birch Grove Cemetery, Glenburn.
