PITTSFIELD – Doris S. Lancaster, 72, died unexpectedly Saturday, Feb. 4, 2006, at a Pittsfield hospital, following a very brief illness. She was born Jan. 29, 1934, in Pemberton, N.J., the daughter of Russell and Agnes (Grover) Simons. She was educated in schools of New Jersey. Doris worked in Corinna at Snowflake Canning for many years, until it burnt. She then worked for Jerome Emerson for several years and then went to work at Dexter Shoe Company, Dexter for many years, until her retirement. She was an avid cribbage player and would take on anyone for the chance to play. She liked the outdoors, especially while fishing. In her younger years, she belonged to several bowling leagues. She was predeceased by a brother, Russell; and her first husband, Alton Hatch. She is survived by her mother, Agnes Simons of Corinna; her husband, Wayne V. Lancaster of Pittsfield, who she married in Corinna Dec. 31, 1982; one son, Alan Hatch of Levant; one daughter and her husband, Deborah and Daylan Parks of Corinna; two stepsons, Gregory Lancaster of Coco Beach, Fla. and Timothy Lancaster of Pittsfield; one stepdaughter, Julie Thibodeau of Lincoln; nine grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and several cousins. At Doris’ request there is no public visitation. Graveside funeral services will be conducted in the spring, at the Corinna Center Cemetery at a time to be announced.
