ASHLAND – Leona Rose Cloukey, 97, died Feb. 4, 2006, at a Presque Isle hospital. She was born May 9, 1908, in Sheridan, the daughter of Alex and Agnes (Devoe) Duprey, one of 22 children. She blessed her family and friends with a long life of 97 years. Rose was married to Arthur Cloukey for 64 years prior to his death in 1989. She had lived in Sheridan most of her life and had been a resident of the Presque Isle nursing home for the past four years. Rose was a member of the St. Mark Sodality, the AARP and the Ashland Senior Citizens for many years. She is survived by four sons, Rene Cloukey Sr. and his wife, Phyllis, of Sheridan, Herman Cloukey and his wife, Anne, of Ashland, Hubert Cloukey and his wife, Carol, of Presque Isle, Frederick Cloukey and his wife, Jackie, of Vernon, Conn.; one daughter, Madeline Neff of Broad Brook, Conn.; eight grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; four sisters, Victoria Laferriere of Eagle Lake, Loretta Loubier, Theresa Bannon and Irene Albert, all of Connecticut; and one brother, Lawrence Duprey of Pennsylvania. In addition to her husband, Rose was predeceased by an infant son, Gilbert Cloukey; and by three grandchildren, Eric Cloukey, Cathy Cloukey and Theresa Kinney. Relatives and friends may call 7-9 p.m. Tuesday and 9 a.m. until time of service Wednesday, at the Stimson-Ouellette Funeral Home, 114 Exchange St., Ashland. A funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Tuesday, at the St. Mark Catholic Church, Ashland, with the Rev. David Raymond, celebrant. Spring interment will be in the parish cemetery.
