WINTHROP – Dorothea Evelyn (Day) Nutter, 88, died Jan. 6, 2007, at a Winthrop health care center. She was born Jan. 3, 1919, in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada, the daughter of Archie and Annie (Doering) Day of Rumford. Dorothea attended schools in Canada and the United States, and became a naturalized United States citizen. She was active in church work wherever she lived and could often be found working in the church nursery. She was past president of the State of Maine Philatheas and was a member of the Princeton Baptist Church. She will be remembered for her positive attitude, smiling face and willingness to help anyone in need. Even in her golden years, she was daring enough to try snowmobiling and jet skiing. She enjoyed gardening and, just like the flowers she grew, she added a quiet beauty to the world. Her family thanks the staff of Heritage Rehab & Living Center, Winthrop, for their many acts of kindness and loving care. She will be missed, especially by her family who survive her, Dorothea A. (Nutter) Wright and Mike of Little Rock, Ark., Rich and Susie Nutter of Bangor and Brian and Darcy Nutter of Mount Vernon; 8 grandchildren; 5 great-grand-children. She was predeceased by her parents; and her husband, George C. Nutter of Woodland. A graveside memorial service will be held next summer in Princeton. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Princeton Baptist Church. Cremation at Mt. Hope Crematory, arranged by Cremation Basics, Inc., Bangor.
