MONSON – Dorothy A. Holmbom, 78, passed away peacefully, Friday, Feb. 11, 2005, after a long struggle with cancer. She was born Aug. 3, 1926, and grew up in Sangerville, the daughter of Clyde and Edna (Patten) Lewis. She was a graduate of Guilford High School, Class of 1944 and attended Boston University. Dot was a longtime resident of Monson and wintered in Apache Jct., Arizona for many years. She loved traveling in her motor home, was a longtime member of the Apache LOW’s and greatly enjoyed attending campouts with them. She was especially proud of being the first woman elected to the Monson Board of Selectmen. She was predeceased by her husband, Theodore; and son, Paul. She is survived by three daughters, Bette and husband, Brent Belmont of Greenville, Brita and husband, Tom Cronkite, of Etna, and Jean Brown of Bangor; seven grandchildren, Katrina, Jordan and Kyle Belmont, Branden Strid, Kristina, Erik and Kelly Brown; three great-grandchild-ren; and very special friends, Vivian St. Louis, Alice and Bernard Crabtree; as well as many dear friends in Arizona. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 14, at the Monson United Church of Christ, North Guilford Road, Monson, where a memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday with Pastor Marilyn Sargent officiating. Spring interment will be in the Lakeroad Cemetery, Monson. Those who wish may contribute in her memory to the Monson United Church of Christ, P.O.
