SOUTH PORTLAND – Dorothy A. (Lynch) Dunham died Friday, Aug. 22, 2008, at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House, Scarborough. Dorothy was born Jan. 27, 1932, in Lowell, Mass., daughter of the late Frederick V. and Elizabeth T. (Lynch) Lynch. She was a gifted artisan on many levels. Her husband, William Shaw Dunham, predeceased her; as well as a grandson, Gavin Bedford Stevens. Surviving are two daughters, Karen E. Stevens of South Portland and Kimberly A. Lacher of Bucksport; one son, Andrew S. Dunham of Portland; 11 grandchildren, Hillary E., Alexandra L. and Nathaniel B. Stevens of South Portland, Adam W., Rachael C. and Benjamin B. Dunham Kapaldo of Bucksport, Brandon J., Emma E., Hannah M., Abby M. and Grace A. Dunham of Portland; two sisters, Therese E. Mank of Falmouth and Janet A. Bird of South Portland; many nieces and nephews. The family thanks the staffs of Charles A. Dean Memorial Hospital, Greenville, 75 State St., 3rd Floor and Gosnell Memorial Hospice House for the love and care provided to Dorothy. They also thank the Gretchen G. Wood family, the Longyear family, the Doughty family, the Rebecca B. Rand family and Dr. Sheila Pinette and staff for the love and support provided to Dorothy. Family and friends are invited to a visitation of celebration of Dorothy’s life 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 27, at Conroy-Tully Crawford Funeral Home, 172 State St., Portland. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family at the Maine Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, Augusta. In lieu of flowers, donations in Dorothy’s memory may be made to Gosnell Memorial Hospice House, 11 Hunnewell Ave., Scarborough, ME 04074.
