EAST SANGERVILLE – Dorothy C. Willette, 81, wife of Chester E. Willette, died peacefully June 11, 2006, surrounded by her family, at her home, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born Dec. 22, 1924, at home in East Sangerville, the daughter of the late Elmer and Erma (Bridges) Leland. She attended Sangerville schools, graduating in 1943. In 1945, she received her teaching certificate from Husson School of Business in Bangor. Dorothy was teaching in the Milo school system when she met Chester, her husband of 38 years. She took an extended leave from teaching to raise her four children, returning to teach another 11 years in 1966, until her retirement in 1977. Dorothy was a member of the Sangerville Grange during her youth and has been a member of the Susie Carr Chapter of the Order of the Easter Star for many years. As a member of OES she held many of the offices, including worthy matron. Her greatest joy was her family and she will be deeply missed by all. She is survived by her husband, Chester E. Willette of East Sangerville; her children, Carroll F. Willette and wife, Bernadette, of Linneus, Darrell E. Willette and wife, Margo, of Pittston, Brian C. Willette and wife, Brenda, of Whitefield, Sally L. Costello and husband, Steven, of Pittston; her grandchildren, Michael Willette and wife, Kelly, of Virgina, Jennifer Willette of Arkansas, Carol Willette of Washington, D.C., Alison Allen of Linneus, Kathleen Willette of Portland, Caryn Costello of New Hampshire, Kelly Costello of New Hampshire, Brent Willette and wife, Sherri, of Wilton, Toni-Lee Willette of Westbrook; seven great-grandchildren; a brother, Harold Leland and wife, Pauline, of East Sangerville; brother-in-law, Wayne Lundgren-Willette and wife, Joyce, of Orrington. Friends are invited to call 1 p.m. Friday, June 16, until time of memorial service and celebration of Dorothy’s life 2 p.m. at the Lary Funeral Home, Dover-Foxcroft. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, One Main Street, Suite 300, Topsham, ME 04086-1240.
