MILFORD and COOPER – Wilfred J. Doucette Sr. died Monday, June 12, 2006, at a Bangor hospital. He was born Aug. 21, 1935, in Old Town, to Henry and Alice (Gilbert) Doucette. On May 29, 1954, Wilfred married Shirley Harris. Wilfred was a member of the Army National Guard until he and his family moved to New York. Willy spent 30 years working as a plumber on Fishers Island, N.Y. It was there that he earned his license as a master plumber. Retirement brought him back to Maine where he loved the outdoors. He was also a life member of the Fishers Island Fire Department. Wilfred is survived by his wife of 52 years, Shirley; his sons, Wilfred “Joe” Jr. of Whitneyville, John and wife, Debbie, of Fishers Island, N.Y., David and fiance, Kathy, of Holden; daughter, Brenda and husband, Lance Donaghy, of Dennysville; grandchildren, Allen, Megan and Brittany, Michael, Christopher and Laura, Dan and Brad; brothers, Jack and Marie, Robert and Betty; sisters, Therese and Dewey, Cecilia and Gene; and mother-in-law, Lila Vowles, with whom he and Shirley shared a home. He was predeceased by his parents; his son, Michael; and his brothers, Louis, Maurice, and Edward. Wilfred had two special friends, Larry Zetlin and Rosemary Finnegan. The jokes they shared were many and will never be forgotten. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Thursday at Holy Family Parish in Old Town with the Rev. Rudolph Leveille celebrant. Burial will be held immediately after the service at St. Joseph Cemetery, Old Town. Friends and family are invited to Holy Family Parish Hall for a luncheon and continued fellowship after the burial.
