JONESPORT – Dorothy Christie Ramos, 78, died on Nov. 9, 2004, in Jonesport. She was born Sept. 23, 1926, in Nashua, N.H., to Mertie Kelley Christie and Charles P. Christie. As a child, Dottie spent many active summers in Jonesport with her family. After graduating from college, she joined United Air Lines in New York City. She worked as a commercial account executive for United for many years, living at 18 Gay St. in Greenwich Village and traveling extensively with her husband, Bill. After retiring from the airline, she moved back to Jonesport and operated Sandpiper Realty until 2003. She was a former officer of the Downeast Realtors Association and the Jonesport Animal Assistance Society, volunteered at the Food Pantry, and served on the board of the Gaelic Square Association. Dottie was known to all as outspoken and generous with a soft heart for animals and a wonderful storytelling sense of humor. She was predeceased by her husband, William daSilveira Ramos; her brothers, C. Philip Christie and Vernon L. Christie; and a niece, Barbara N. Christie. She leaves two nieces, Sherry C. Fish and her husband, Harry, of Jonesport, and Elizabeth C. Callis of Forest City, N.C.; three nephews: Jeffrey P. Christie and his wife, Carol, of Columbus, Ohio, Richard Jones-Christie and his wife, Sharon, of Tucson, Ariz., and Robert A. Christie of Phoenix; a grandnephew, Rick Christie and daughter, Kimberly; and four grandnieces: Carey A. Christie of Seattle, Lysa E. Christie of Bangor, E. Abigail Callis of Forest City, N.C., and Jennifer Forster, husband Dean, and son Will. A graveside memorial service will be held at Greenwood Cemetery in Jones-port at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 20.
