GAINESVILLE, Fla. and ORONO – E. Jean Ploch, 80, died peacefully Nov. 8, at a Gainesville, Florida retirement home. She was born April 6, 1924, at Titusville, Pa. She received her nursing degree at Michelle Reese Hospital in Chicago, Ill. In 1948, she married Louis A. Ploch (former Professor Emeritus, University of Maine, Orono). They made Orono their home for 47 years before moving to Gainesville, Fla. in 2001 to be near family. She worked as an R.N. at E.M.M.C. and Phillip Strickland House. Mrs. Ploch was predeceased by her husband, Louis, and son, James M. Ploch. She is survived by her son, Richard Ploch and his wife, Mary, of Gainesville, Fla., and her sister, Maxine Robishaw of Saint Petersburg, Fla.; also, five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren; two nephews and one niece. The family wishes to thank many good neighbors and friends from the Orono-Old Town area for many kindnesses over the years. In lieu of flowers, you are invited to make donations in memory of E.
