DERBY – Dorothy “Dot” L. Bushway, 83, wife of Alfred “Ike” J. Bushway, passed away April 18, 2007, surrounded by her family and friends at her home. She was born Oct. 13, 1923, in Island Falls, the daughter of Lowell N. and Bertha (Silva) Landers. She was raised in Derby and graduated from Milo High School, Class of 1941. Dot was a dedicated and loving wife and mother, who thoroughly enjoyed her time baking in the kitchen and helping Ike with woodworking projects for their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Some of her fondest memories were of teaching the special needs students at Milo Town Hall. She was a longtime member of the Derby Mothers Service Club, where she was involved in making hundreds of quilts, which were sold to support the club’s gifts to local servicemen and women. She was a member of Sts. Paul the Apostle and Francis Xavier Catholic Church, and showed her deep commitment to the church through her participation with the Women’s Sodality and the many church suppers she was involved with. Dorothy is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Ike of Milo; two sons, Alfred A. Bushway and his wife, Honey, of Veazie and Rodney J. Bushway and his wife, Carole, of Hermon; two grandsons, Christopher Bushway and his wife, Kerry, of Bangor and Nicholas Bushway of Dover-Foxcroft; one granddaughter, Meghan Bushway of Dover-Foxcroft; one great-granddaughter, Olivia Bushway of Bangor; one great-grandson, Isaac Bushway of Bangor; a sister, Patricia Williams and her husband, Bobby, of Brewer; a sister-in-law, Charlene Landers; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She will be remembered by two special friends, Louise and Steven Rhoda of Milo; and special neighbors, Diane and Terry Jay, Judy Clement and Tony Voisine. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, John Landers; and her sister, Joanne Landers Coy. A memorial Mass will be conducted 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 24, at Sts. Paul the Apostle and Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Milo, with Fr. James Robichaud, celebrant. After the service friends are invited to share refreshment and fellowship at the church hall.
