VENTURA, Calif. – Dorothy Francene (Blanchard) Humphrey passed away March 23, 2007, in Sylmar, Calif. She had a joyful life, full of fun and laughter, and was always the life of the party! “Dottie” was born April 23, 1921, in Brewer, the only daughter to her late parents, Franz Hodsdon and Eliza Ethel (Hussey) Blanchard. She graduated from Brewer High School, Class of 1938. She met her husband, James J. Humphrey during World War II, while he was in the Navy. They married Sept. 30, 1944, and moved to California, eventually settling in the San Fernando Valley, where she made numerous lifelong friends, was an active volunteer in the PTA and helped man local election polls. In 1981, after 30 years in Sylmar, Calif., they moved to Ventura, Calif., where they loved the climate, weather and many good friends they made at Imperial Ventura Mobil Estates and on the bus. She will always be remembered for her quick wit, fun-loving nature and avid letter writing. She was predeceased by her husband of 40 years, James; her parents; and brothers, Moses, Earl, Robert “Archie,” Franz, Douglas and Theodore. She is survived and will be dearly missed by her beloved “dotter,” Nancy Louise Humphrey of Toluca Lake, Calif.; son, James Michael Humphrey and his wife, Suzanne; grandchildren, Corey and Carleen of Manhattan Beach, Calif.; son, Wayne David Humphrey and his wife, Linda, of Sylmar, Calif.; two stepgrandchildren, David Gutierrez and his wife, Michelle, of Palmdale, Calif., and Rachel Corbera of Sylmar, Calif.; five great-stepgrandchildren; bro-ther, Edward “Ned” Blanchard and his wife, Eunice, of South Portland; many beloved nieces and nephews. At Dottie’s request, there will be no memorial services. A private burial was held at Ivy Lawn Memorial Park, Ventura, Calif.
