CRYSTAL – Dorothy I. Erickson, 96, died Feb. 7, 2005, at Houlton. She was born May 7, 1908, in Crystal, the daughter of Frank and Bertha (Bamford) Longstaff. She graduated from Island Falls High School, was a Past Matron of O.E.S., a lifelong member of the Katahdin Club, served on the Rationing Board during World War II and was a faithful member of the Whittier Congregational Church. Dot was loved and respected by the members of her community and over the years was a caregiver for her family and for others at all times. She will be missed by many good friends and was especially thankful for the people who gave her the loving and supportive care over the last few years of her life. She is survived by one granddaughter, Jennifer and her husband, Philip Hovey, of Andover, Conn.; and several cousins in New Brunswick, Saskatchewan, Maine and Washington State. She was predeceased by her husband, Winfred; a son, William; and a sister, Marion. Friends may call 2-4 p.m. Thursday at the Bowers Funeral Home, Island Falls. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Friday at the Whittier Congregational Church with the Rev. Rodger Goode and the Rev. James Flye officiating. Spring interment will be in the Island Falls Cemetery.
