SOUTH PORTLAND – Dorothy L. Marshall, 87, of Broadway, South Portland, died unexpectedly Wednesday at a Portland hospital. Mrs. Marshall was born in Rochester, N.H., a daughter of John and Clara Parsons Lupien and moved to Maine in 1927. She was educated in the Rochester schools and graduated from Portland High School, Class of 1934. In 1940, she married Robert F. Marshall. She was a member of the Thornton Heights United Methodist Church in South Portland, a volunteer cook, the Southern Maine Area on Aging and was a Girl Scout leader in the early 1950s. Dorothy worked at F.W. Woolworth’s, Porteous, Mitchell and Braun, N.A. Burkett and Something Special Gift Shop. Predeceasing her was her husband in 1969; and a son, Richard Marshall in 1946; and a grandson, Todd Young in 1967. Surviving are two daughters, Lois F. Hubbard and her husband, Ike, of Jonesport, Patricia A. Marshall of Westbrook; a sister, Florence Graham of Portland; a nephews, Skip Graham and his wife, Faye, of Cape Elizabeth; three grandchildren, Michael Pattee of Westbrook, Lisa Davis of Windham and John Young II of Windham; five great-grandchildren. Donations may be made in her memory to Southern Maine Agency on Aging, 136 US Route 1, Scarborough, Maine 04074. A graveside service at the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery will be announced at a later date. Visiting with the family will be held 11:15 a.m. on Sunday, Feb. 1, 2004, at the Fireside Room at Thornton Heights Methodist Church in South Portland. Arrangements are by the Hobbs Funeral Home.
