AUGUSTA – Dorothy L. McEachern, 93, of Davenport Street, died Thursday, May 3, 2007, at the Maine Veterans’ Home, Augusta. She was born Nov. 5, 1913, in Madison, the daughter of Carlton and Gladys (Walton) Luce. Dorothy graduated from Greenville High School. After high school, Dorothy attended and graduated from Farm-ington Normal School. She taught one year in a one-room schoolhouse in Abbot. It was at that time she married Carl and became a housewife. She was a past member of the Peoples Methodist Church, Greenville, for 55 years, as well as, a former member of the Mowidausis Chapter No. 188, Order of the Eastern Star, Greenville. Dorothy was predeceased by her husband, Carl; and a brother, Charles W. Luce. She is survived by her sister, Elaine Leadbetter of Newport; nieces, Jane Brann, Barbara Hume and Elizabeth Love; nephews, Collin McEachern, William Luce, Mark Leadbetter, Peter Leadbetter, Bruce Campbell, James Campbell and Michael Turpen; many great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins. She is also survived by special friends, Linda Jones, Penny Leeman, Frances Trepanier and Karl Fickett. Dorothy’s family would like to thank the Maine Veterans’ Home staff for their excellent care given to both Dorothy and Carl. Relatives and friends may visit 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, May 9, at Knowlton and Hewins Funeral Home, One Church St. Augusta, where a funeral ser-vice will be held 11 a.m. Thurs-day.
