SKOWHEGAN – Dorothy M. Peary, 89, of Anson, went home to be with her Savior Sept. 29, 2005. She was born April 3, 1916, in Caribou, the daughter of the late Lorenzo Dow Hobbs and Mabel (Blackstone) Hobbs. She was a graduate of Caribou High School, Class of 1933. She married Kenneth Roy Peary July 5, 1933, at her home in Caribou, by the Rev. Turner of Perham Baptist Church. Dorothy was a typical farmer’s wife, she loved to cook, sew, make quilts, doll clothes, and boarded potato picking crews in the fall. She served as president of the Washburn Farm Bureau Women’s group and the Friendship Club of Caribou. She was a member of the Conservative Baptist Church of Washburn, and later the State Street Baptist Church of Presque Isle. She was attending Crossroads Bible Church of Madison at the time of her death. She was predeceased by her husband, Kenneth R. Peary in 1974; a daughter, Carolyn J. Bull in 2004; a daughter in-law, Joyce Peary Nov. 26, 1996; two brothers, Ralph and Philip Hobbs; two sisters, Pauline Sylvester and Mildred Blackstone; and a brother-in-law, Wallace Thompson of Presque Isle. She is survived by a daughter, Janice M. Day and her husband, Ira, of Anson, with whom she lived; two sons, Douglas K. Peary of North Haven, Conn., and Darryl A. Peary and his wife, Melvina, of Londonderry, N.H.; and a son in-law, Leif V. Bull of Solon; two sisters, Leola Tarr of Stephentown, N.Y. and Audrey Hobbs of East Longmeadow, Mass.; two sisters-in-laws, Idella Peary of Levant and Barbara Hobbs of East Longmeadow, Mass.; 12 grandchildren, 19 great-grand-children and six great-great-grandchildren. Visitation will be 2-3 p.m. Sunday Oct. 2, 2005, at Crossroads Bible Church, 705 White School House Road, Madison. Funeral services will start 3 p.m. Sunday at the church. Committal services will be held 1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 3, 2005, at the Fairview Cemetery in Perham.
