CARIBOU – Marjorie A. Winslow, 92, died unexpectedly Sept. 28, 2005, at her Caribou residence. She was born May 15, 1913, in Ashland, a daughter of N. Frank and Mable (Murphy) Amnott. She was married to Russell Winslow Nov. 7, 1937, and was predeceased by him March 14, 1985. Marjorie was an Ashland High School graduate, and graduated from Aroostook State Teachers College in 1933, and received a bachelor of science degree in 1965. She taught public school in the Ashland and Caribou school systems for many years, retiring in 1975. She was a member of Bessie Gray Memorial United Methodist Church and was active in the churches Jenny Lyons Circle, along with the Wednesday Work Group for many years. She was past matron of the Elizabeth Chapter OES and member of the past matron’s club. She was also a member of the Aroostook Retired Teachers Association, the Maine State Retired Teachers Association, and the National Education Association. She was also past-president of the Ladies Division of the Caribou Country Club. She was an avid bridge player. She is survived by two sons, Richard L. Winslow, M.D. and his wife, Elizabeth, of Dallas, Texas, and Dalton S. Winslow, Ph. D and his wife, Leslie MacGregor of Meridan, N.H.; four grandchildren, Franklin H. Winslow and Jennifer Winslow, both of Charlottesville, Va., Allen Winslow and Owen Winslow, both of Meridan, Conn.; two great-grandchildren, Austin Winslow and Benjamin Winslow, both of Charlottesville, Va.; she was the last of 11 siblings. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday at the Bessie Gray Memorial United Methodist Church, Caribou, with the Rev. Anna Beach officiating. Visiting hours will be from 1 p.m. until the time of services. Interment will be at the Municipal Cemetery in Ashland.
