DOROTHY M. WEBSTER

BANGOR – Dorothy M. Webster, 86, passed away peacefully in her sleep April 4, 2006, surrounded by her family. She was born June 16, 1919, in Bangor, the daughter of Charles and Mary Cefalo. Mary was a welder in South Portland during World War II, building Liberty Ships while her husband, Arthur, served in the Pacific Theater. After raising three children she returned to work, performing French cording for various local shoe manufacturers. She retired from the Bangor school department in 1989, where she enjoyed spending time with children as a member of the cafeteria staff. Her favorite activity was playing Beano with her close friends. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 59 years, Arthur M. Webster Sr. Jan. 28, 2003; her parents, her three brothers, Charles “Chuck” Cefalo, Francis Cefalo and Roland Cefalo; and two grandchildren, Scott Webster and Traci Nash. She is survived by her children, Arthur Webster Jr. and his wife, Valerie, of Hampden, Jane and Bill Newberry of Glenburn, Judy and Ray Perry of Orrington and Kristie and Dick Durgin of Gorham; 13 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, cousins; and a very special nephew, Gene Cefalo and wife, Nancy; and many friends. The family thanks the Maine Veterans’ Home of Bangor for their passionate caring for the family and for their beloved mother, Dorothy, in her final hours. Friends are invited to meet with the family 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, April 5, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor. A graveside funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, April 6, at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, 449 Ohio St., Bangor, with the Rev. Roland Nadeau presiding. Relatives and friends are encouraged to gather at the Superintendents Office by 12:45 p.m. to process to the gravesite. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments at the Brookings-Smith Family Center, 163 Center St., Bangor after the service.
