BREWER – Dorothy “Dotty” (McAvoy) Pooler, 95, wife of the late Clement E. Pooler, died June 17, 2004, at a Bangor healthcare facility. She was born March 25, 1909, in Benedicta, the daughter of John and Teresa (Rush) McAvoy. Dotty graduated from St. Benedict’s High School and the Maine School of Commerce (Husson). She taught school in Benedicta and then worked with her husband at the Maine Fur Co. and the Squires Apparel Store. Later she assisted her husband in counseling for the State of Maine. She is survived by two sisters, Frances Cummings of Millinocket, Madolyn Enright of East Millinocket; three nieces and their husbands, Christine and Wendall McNally of Brewer, Theresa and Harold McLaughlin, Jeanne and Arthur Dentremont, all of Millinocket; and several other nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; husband; and brother, Everett McAvoy; and a special nephew, Joe Cummings. Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Friday at Brookings-Smith, Clark-Piper Chapel, 55 South Main St., Brewer. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Brewer, with the Rev. Richard E. Harvey, celebrant.
