LUDLOW – Dorothy P. McCain, 87, died in her sleep April 8, 2005, at Madigan Estates Nursing Home. She was born Aug. 3, 1917, at Irvington, N.J., the daughter of Jacob and Katherine (Amendt) Poppele. Dorothy was a communicant of Saint Mary of the Visitation Church. She was a member of the Meduxnekeag Club, the Know Your Neighbor Club and the Houlton Community Golf Club. She was an avid bowler and a diehard Red Sox fan. She is survived by one son, Stanley McCain and his wife, Nga, of Orlando, Fla.; four daughters, Kathryn Dyer and her husband, Roger, of Caribou, Patricia McCain and her husband, David Austin, of Duri, Riau, Sumatra, Barbara Robertson and her husband, Thyrele of New Limerick, Virginia “Ginny” McCain of Ludlow; 13 grandchildren, Rachel Dyer and her fianc?, Chris Mangelli of Gardiner, Elizabeth Dyer and her fianc?, Bill Conklin of Kingston, R.I., Craig Bossie of Portland, Lynn Fontaine and her husband, Patrick of Houlton, James Robertson of Orono, Dorothy Robertson of New Limerick, Ena Austin of Beaumont, Texas, Harry Austin of Ludlow, Dolly McCain of Orlando, Fla., David and Lonnie Robertson and their family of Vienna, Va., Sean and Evonne Robertson and their family of Japan, Cindy and Greg Smith and their family of Mt. Vernon, Va., Andrew and Norma Robertson and their family of Wichita, Kan.; one sister-in-law, Helen M. Welch of Houlton; many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband, James S. McCain. Friends may call 4-7 p.m. Sunday, at Dunn Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Monday, at Saint Mary of the Visitation Church, with the Rev. Eddy Morin celebrant. Interment will be in the Ludlow Cemetery.
