BANGOR – Dorothy (Perkins) Wilkins, 99, formerly of Kenduskeag, wife of the late John S. Wilkins, died April 9, 2007, at an Orono health care facility. She was born Aug. 16, 1907, in Kenduskeag, the daughter of Fred W. and Emma (Hall) Perkins. Dorothy had resided in Kenduskeag most of her working career in the residence of her parents. She was a graduate of Bangor High School, Class of 1926 and the Maine School of Commerce, now Husson College. Her first employment was in the Penobscot County Court House, Registry of Deeds, Bangor. Other employment, throughout the years, were with local retailers, a dentist and a lawyer, as secretary and office manager until her retirement. She was a life member of Good Samaritan Chapter No. 38 Order of Eastern Star, Kenduskeag. In 1997, she received the Golden Sheaf Certificate for 50 years in the Maine State Grange, Patron of Husbandry. Dorothy enjoyed musical shows and playing the piano. The Lawrence Welk Show and the Boston Pops were among her favorite TV entertainment. She is survived by a nephew, Garret F. VanWart of Scituate, Mass.; two great-nieces and three great-nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Evangeline H. (Perkins) VanWart; and a niece, Phyllis M. Doughty. Private graveside services for the family will be at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Arlington, Mass.
