HOWLAND – Douglas P. Theriault, 63, passed away July 30, 2008, at a Howland health care facility. He was born May 24, 1945, in Old Town, the son of Alfred and Lillian (St. Thomas) Theriault. Doug was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving on the USS Joseph P. Kennedy Jr. He received the Vietnam Service Medal with two bronze stars. An avid outdoors person, he loved nature, hunting, fishing and swimming. He also loved to dance. He was licensed to fly small planes, and enjoyed flying. He was predeceased by his father, Alfred Theriault; his mother, Lillian Theriault Goulette; stepfather, Albert Goulette; brother, Euclid Theriault; and sister-in-law, Loreen Theriault. He is survived by a daughter, Marie Hope and husband, Steven; son, Douglas Jr. and wife, Amy; brother, Alfred and wife, Gail; sister, Mary Lou Sereyko and husband, Don; sister, Bernadette Humphrey; sister-in-law, Joyce Theriault; six grandchildren, Michael, Josh, Jenna, Brookelyn, Marina and Parker; many nieces and nephews. Doug also leaves a very special friend, Milly. The family wishes to thank the Hospice workers and the staff at Cummings Healthcare Facility for the excellent care given to Doug. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Friday at Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Leo Catholic Church with the Rev. Leroy Landry, presiding. Interment will be at St. Matthews Cemetery, West Enfield. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation.
