DIXMONT and CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS – Dr. Deanna L. (Williams) Nekovei, 40, died unexpectedly May 3, 2005, at the Methodist Hospital in Houston, Texas, from complications of cancer. She was born July 12, 1964, in Hartland, the daughter of Donald F. and Linda (Lawler) Williams. She attended schools in Dixmont and Newport including Nokomis Regional High. She was a graduate of Bangor High School, Class of 1982. While a student at the University of Maine in Orono she married Reza Nekovei on Feb. 14, 1984. She furthered her education by graduating from the University of Maine in Orono with a Bachelor’s Degree; graduating from the University of Rhode Island with a Masters Degree; and graduating from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst with a PhD. At the time of her death Dr. Nekovei was a Professor of Education at Texas A&M University. Dr. Nekovei enjoyed working with a group of Professors from around the country formulating the questions for the S.A.T. Tests that determines the National Merit Scholarships. Deanna was a loving mother and devoted to her husband and boys. She enjoyed reading and traveling. She is survived by her parents Donald and Linda Williams of Dixmont, her husband of 21 years, Dr. Reza Nekovei of Corpus Christi, Texas; her two sons, Bijan Nicholas Nekovei and Arya Alexander Nekovei of Corpus Christi, Texas; two brothers and their wives, Kevin and Julie Williams of Dixmont, Keith and Diane Williams of Dixmont; her two sisters and their husbands, identical twin, Dianna and Mathew Basile of Penobscot, Cindy and Chester Clark of Dixmont; her husband’s parents, Mohammad Nekovei and Mchin Pourian of Iran; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Sunday, May 8, 2005, at the Brown Funeral Home, 34 High St., Newport. Graveside funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Monday, May 9, 2005, at Mount Hope Cemetery, Bangor with Pastor Al Worden officiating. Friends and family are asked to take the State Street entrance to Mount Hope Cemetery and meet at the Superintendent’s Lodge by 12:45 p.m. to be led to the lot.
